June 10 Day 15 24 kms Kim’s -Nelson

Only bike to Nelson today, waiting for Marie. Rest days!! Drink wine & eat days!!!

So yesterday I met this wonderful couple, Jacob is cycling across Canada & Jannie (his wife) is his support vehicle. I admire what they are doing, fundraising for cancer with an organization ( ride2survive)that gives 100% of funds to research.

Because I dedicate this trip to Theresa, cancer would be my choice for fundraising and many people ask or assume that I am doing this trip fundraising for a cause. So if you would like to donate I will suggest these beautiful people

June 9 Day 16 120kms Grand Forks – junction of highway 6 off 3A (Friend Kim’s home)

Started very well rested, breakfast & said goodbye to my host for the night. Changed a flat then headed out for Castlegar.

Another scenic day, met up with another cyclist who was traveling with his wife. She was his support vehicle & pulled the sleeping unit. They’re fund raising for Cancer, I’ll post their info tomorrow – I think it’s a great organization as 100% of funds raise go to research.

A couple of visits on the road then a ride in a pilot truck through construction (they were blasting so wouldn’t let us bike through) saved 5/6kms of hill, almost to top of the summit.

Got wet & chilled coming down the 35kms off the mountain- yes 35kms straight down- yippee!!!
To the bike shop in Castlegar, new tube & some adjustments- thanks Cycology Bikes

A few more kms to Kim home. Dinner and BSing.

June 8/9

Used the web site warmshowers.org for the first time. Cyclists host cyclists. My first host was amazing, funny, great conversation, I enjoy meeting Ted very much. Napped on a float in the clouds bed then a wonderful meal from his garden, rhubarb sorbet for dessert, tried a new Liqueur – Limoncello, then to bed for a well needed sleep before the morning bike. Thanks so much
